Sigenergy Day Africa 2025 leads Africa’s clean energy transition

In 2025, Sigenergy, a global leader in intelligent energy storage industry, pushed Africa’s clean energy revolution forward with impactful “Sigenergy Day Africa” event series.

A big part of why these three events worked? Each was held near a Sigenergy flagship project site. This wasn’t just a random venue pick. It let industry partners see how Sigenergy’s solutions fix real energy problems. By the end of the year, over 850 leaders, distributors, EPCs, and investors from across Africa had joined. These events became a key driver of change for the whole continent.

Three Flagship Events, Three Industry Solutions

February: Johannesburg’s Industrial “Uninterrupted Power” Showcase

The year started on February 14 at Monte Casino in Johannesburg. A key highlight of the event was the on-site demonstration of Sigenergy’s SigenStor energy storage solution at South Ocean Electric Wire, a cable manufacturer based in Alberton. Before Sigenergy got involved, this cable factory fought against constant load-shedding. Production would stop suddenly, and the only fix was expensive, polluting diesel generators.

Sigenergy’s solution? A customized system. It has 2,085 kWp solar panels, 96 units of 25kW SigenStor EC TP inverters, and 520 pieces of 8kWh SigenStor batteries with 4.1 MWh energy stored in total. At the event, guests watched in real time as the system switched from on grid to off grid mode, and the transition was seamless. This meant the factory kept running even at grid power outage without even sensing it.

To support this consistent power performance, the system also includes advanced granular battery management. This function avoids the restrictive cask effect by enabling flexible mixing of battery packs with different SOH (State of Health) / SOC (State of Charge) levels or cell modes, ensuring the overall battery fleet maintains steady output over time regardless of individual module variances.

In his opening speech, Sigenergy President and CTO Samuel Zhang shared a big win. Just seven months after entering South Africa, the company had secured nearly 100 MWh in orders. The industry also witnessed the fast market penetration of Sigenergy in South Africa. “We’ve grown faster than any inverter company in history,” he said. “And that’s thanks to partners like Herholdt’s Group, South Africa’s top distributor, who trust our solutions.”

September: Cape Town’s Tourism “Modular & Cost-Efficient Energy” Model

By September 15, the action moved to Cape Town’s President Hotel. This site was a showcase for the tourism industry and also the location where the Sigenergy solution was adopted. Hotels can’t afford power cuts, so Sigenergy solution is an ideal system to keep things running smoothly. It has 149 kWp solar panels, 9 units of 110kW HYB hybrid inverters with inbuilt energy gateway, and 100 pieces of 12kWh SigenStack batteries, with a total energy storage capacity of 1.2 MWh. This setup keeps lights on, guests comfortable, and operations on track.

The event’s biggest reveal was the all-new HYB SigenStack, an all-in-one energy system built specifically for commercial and industrial (C&I) use. Its modular design is well-suited for confined installation spaces such as Hotel’s basements, where traditional industrial-grade energy storage would face deployment hurdles due to limited maneuvering room. The system can be fully installed without any large mechanical auxiliary equipment, streamlining the setup process even in tight areas. It also combines an inverter, battery, and energy management system in a single unit, and it grows alongside a business’s needs thanks to its modular and scalable design.

To top it off, the system’s DC coupling design delivers dual benefits for users: it reduces the number of required auxiliary devices to lower upfront equipment costs, and it supports a 2.0 max DC/AC ratio that allows more PV power input, which in turn boosts solar energy utilization and drives higher revenue from self-consumed green power.

We’ve grown faster than any inverter company in history.

At this event, Sigenergy also launched the biggest competition the South African solar industry had ever seen. It was tagged #BuildYourDreams to spark innovation. The event had live entertainment and tips from local energy experts like The Energy Gurus. It didn’t feel like a boring conference, it felt like a celebration of Africa’s energy future.

November: Johannesburg’s Healthcare “Reliable & Secure Power” Benchmark

The year wrapped up on November 6 at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg. This event focused on a critical sector: healthcare. The showcase site was Netcare Hospital. There, any electrical hazard or system malfunction could put lives at risk, making robust power system safety an absolute necessity for patient safety and care. Sigenergy’s system for the hospital includes 600 kWp solar panels, 6 units of 110kW HYB inverters, and 72 pieces of 12kWh SigenStack batteries, with a total energy storage capacity of 864 kWh (0.864 MWh). The system’s core strength lies in its industry-leading safety design, which is critical for high-stakes healthcare scenarios: it features IP66-rated enclosure protection against dust and water intrusion, pack-level 6-layer safety safeguards, and a 500m AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) detection capability that can identify potential arc faults over an extended range to prevent electrical hazards, ensuring the system operates stably and securely in long-term, high-demand clinical environments to support vital medical equipment operation.

Sigenergy isn’t slowing down in 2026.

Guests also got to see cutting-edge tools. Sigenergy’s partner SIAAC demoed VR software for energy project design. This makes it easier to plan future installations. Financiers David Gregor and David Clayton also spoke. They shared why they back Sigenergy: “Their solutions don’t just work. They’re built for Africa’s unique challenges.”

The event ended with awards for top partners. Twelve companies won prizes. There were “Excellent Partner Awards” for teams like Union Power Energy and SolarSaver. There were also “Rising Star Awards” for groups like Thula Moya Energy and RHINO ENERGY SOLUTIONS. This showed just how strong the community around Sigenergy is.

A Year of Wins: Technology, Market, and Community

2025 wasn’t just about events—it was about real progress. On the tech side, Sigenergy rolled out new products covering two core categories: residential and commercial & industrial (C&I) scenarios. These offerings were tailored to fit each user group’s distinct needs and address their unique energy pain points. A standout upgrade centered on the mySigen App—Sigenergy’s unified, user-friendly energy management portal, enabling remote access to system status and basic operational controls. The app was further enhanced by Sigen AI, which operates via real-time energy system data monitoring and intelligent algorithm analysis. This AI capability automatically optimizes power allocation to boost PV energy utilization, monitors equipment safety status, and drives lower energy costs while simplifying management for users of all technical levels.

In the market, the results spoke for themselves. A 2024 global survey found 90% of South African homeowners and installers love the Sigenergy solutions.

And when it comes to community, Sigenergy made clear progress—not only expanding its global network to over 16,000 installers across more than 85 countries and regions as of December, but also building deep ties with key collaborators like Herholdt’s Group. Both steps clearly show that clean energy success in Africa isn’t a solo effort, it takes strong teamwork.

Looking Ahead to 2026: Going Further, Together

Sigenergy isn’t slowing down in 2026. Geographically, the company will expand into more African countries, and it will focus on places where reliable energy is hard to find—including rural areas without electricity and cities grappling with power outages.

For events, five major gatherings are planned across the continent, which will include Sigenergy Day Africa, and these won’t just be simple demos. Instead, they’ll offer hands-on training for installers, EPCs, and developers while also bringing in more investors to help fund Africa’s energy transition.

At its core, Sigenergy’s mission remains unchanged: to build Africa’s clean energy future and let everyone enjoy green energy. It will pursue this goal by taking one showcase project, one partnership, and one reliable power solution at a time. And as 2025 proved, when people get to see the real difference clean energy makes, change happens quickly.
