IIEHSM offers eight courses from which to choose, including the IIE Higher Certificate in Hospitality Management

The IIE School of Hospitality & Service Management (IIEHSM) has eight courses from which to choose a career path in the hospitality industry.

One of the courses – the IIE Higher Certificate in Hospitality Management – equips learners with a coherent and encompassing understanding of management principles and how these apply to hospitality operations. 

In this full-time, year-long course – also available to undertake as an 18-month online option – students acquire the skillset to interpret challenges in the various hospitality departments, deliver services efficiently and effectively, solve problems and exploit opportunities to improve services. 

Students will also get to understand customer segmentation and target markets and have an understanding of the legal requirements that have an impact on the hospitality businesses as well as understand basic accounting principles and their application to a hospitality business. 

Further teachings included in the coursework include essential skills in hospitality operations, including Front Office and Rooms Division Management, Food and Beverage Studies, and Basic Accounting and an understanding of industry practices and legal requirements.

Students will also get hand-on practical experience through the school’s Work Integrated Learning module, which allows for immersion in the daily operations of hospitality establishments.

Following graduation, career options include entry level roles in jobs such as event coordinators, conference organisers, assistant venue manager and more. The qualification also lays the groundwork for advancement into supervisory or junior management positions.

Courses offered include the IIE Higher Certificate in Hospitality Management, the IIE Bachelor of Hospitality Management, the IIE Advanced Diploma in Hospitality Leadership Distance and the IIE Advanced Certificate in Hospitality Management.
