Elevating Sustainable Luxury
HOTEL VERDE CAPE TOWN AIRPORT, Africa’s greenest hotel and pioneer of carbon-neutral accommodation and conferencing, is thrilled to announce the opening of its highly anticipated onsite spa facility, the Verde Vita Spa and Wellness Centre, on November 21, 2023. Since its inception in 2013, Hotel Verde has consistently championed sustainability in its design, operations, and resources. The launch of Verde Vita is a natural progression, embodying this commitment while offering unparalleled wellness services.
Prepare to immerse yourself in a green life oasis at Verde Vita
Meticulously designed, this tranquil sanctuary promises an experience of profound relaxation and rejuvenation for your entire body. Drawing inspiration from Hotel Verde—a luxurious four-star hotel—the spa also provides a beautiful and harmonious environment that helps guests unwind.
Verde Vita’s design incorporates curves and arches that mirror the natural contours of the surrounding environment. The spa manages to create an intimate atmosphere through the clever use of minimal space, while the subtle green hues enhance the ambience. Additionally, the textures used in the spa mimic those found in nature, further strengthening the connection with the natural world.
The upcoming spa launch is set to have a very special guest of honour, former Miss South Africa, Amy Kleinhans-Curd. Known for her passion for motivating women and children to flourish and discover their true purpose, she is a captivating and authentic figure in the realm of personal growth.
“We are beyond excited to introduce our latest addition, Verde Vita, to our esteemed guests,” said Caron van Rooyen, General Manager of Hotel Verde. “Building upon our legacy of sustainability, the Spa embodies our passion for offering superior service while adhering to our green philosophy. We are dedicated to providing guests with exceptional wellness treatments using the finest organic products available.”
Verde Vita boasts an extensive selection of signature spa treatments tailored to meet guests’ specific needs. From rejuvenating body treatments and facials to soothing massages, every service is designed to restore balance and nourish the mind, body, and soul.
Verde Vita’s qualified spa therapists offer hotel guests and day visitors:
- State-of-the-art infrared cabin treatments.
- Facial treatments.
- Eyebrow and lash tinting.
- Eyelash extensions.
- Manicures and pedicures.
- Nail enhancement treatments.
- Massage treatments.
- Signature spa packages.
The infrared cabin is a revolutionary type of sauna that utilises infrared light to provide a unique and beneficial heating experience. Unlike traditional saunas that heat the air, the infrared technology in an infrared cabin directly warms your body, promoting detoxification and revitalisation from within. With its full-spectrum capabilities, the infrared cabin delivers various wavelengths of infrared light, penetrating deep into the skin and muscles, providing numerous health benefits. These include improved skin tone, circulation, relaxation, pain relief, wound healing, detoxification, and enhanced metabolism.
Hotel Verde’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its achievements, as it is the first hotel in Africa and the sixth globally to attain LEED Platinum status for new construction. In addition, the hotel also received LEED Platinum certification for operations and maintenance, making it the first hotel in the world to achieve double Platinum certification. The hotel achieved a six-star Green Star certification from the Green Building Council of South Africa for its operations.
As a testament to Hotel Verde’s unwavering commitment to sustainable living, Verde Vita has been thoughtfully designed to align with the hotel’s eco-friendly principles which help minimise its environmental footprint. “Verde Vita’s design embodies sustainability in every aspect, from the reuse of the existing shell and walls to the implementation of an infrared cabin, which significantly reduces energy consumption compared to traditional saunas. A construction waste management plan was put in place throughout the building process, ensuring that waste is avoided, reused, recycled, or donated, resulting in a landfill diversion rate of more than 70%,” said David Pollock, Technical Manager of Hotel Verde, who oversaw the entire project management.
The architects behind the development of Verde Vita are the renowned Ohkre Collective, who have created a stunning design that seamlessly blends luxury with sustainability. The spa consultant for the project was Jacoline Wentzel of Spa Warehouse, whose expertise in this field is unparalleled. Ecolution, led by André Harms, has worked to ensure that the spa was built with the environment in mind, and Phase Three, a highly respected construction company, has brought this project to life.
As part of the spa experience, customers have the unique opportunity to indulge in the natural hotel pool in the lush garden surrounded by wetlands and fynbos. Hotel Verde is the only commercial hotel with more than 100 rooms to have a natural pool on the African continent. This natural hotel pool uses plants to filter the water without the need for any harmful chemicals such as chlorine. In addition to the natural hotel pool, visitors can take advantage of the 350-meter jogging trail and the outdoor gym, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the beauty and serenity of the natural surroundings while achieving their fitness goals.
