ITC-SA to host CPD-accredited timber conference at Interbuild Africa

The Institute for Timber Construction South Africa (ITC-SA), SAQA-accredited professional body and watchdog for the timber construction industry in South Africa, will be hosting a CPD-accredited timber construction conference on the 16^th of August at Expo Centre Nasrec as part of the upcoming Interbuild Africa 2018.
As part of its mission to create and maintain standards in the timber construction industry, the ITC-SA is committed to taking every opportunity to host information-sharing events like workshops, training sessions and presentations, which help to inform both the industry and the public.
“The Timber Construction Conference we will be hosting at Interbuild Africa is no different and we are delighted to be bringing top industry experts together at the conference to share their wealth of knowledge and insights into various facets of timber construction, from strength grading of structural timber to treatment and surface coatings on the completed structure,” says Amanda Obbes, General Manager of the ITC-SA.
The ITC-SA’s conference at Interbuild Africa will be host to Werner Slabbert Jnr, who will be presenting on Timber Frame Building, Elliot Nkosi of the ITC-SA, who will present on Site-Made vs. Prefabricated Timber Trusses, Abe Stears of South African Technical Auditing Services (SATAS), who will present on the Certification of Structural Timber, Willie Conradie of TimberLife, who will discuss Outdoor Wood Coatings and Bruce Breedt of the South African Wood Preservers Association (SAWPA), who will talk about Timber Treatment, Standards & Regulations.

About the Institute for Timber Construction (ITC-SA)
The ITC-SA was established more than 40 years ago to regulate the engineered timber roof structure industry and to provide design, manufacturing, erection, inspection and certification for compliance with inter alia SANS 10400 and SANS 10082, where engineering rational designs are applicable.
The ITC-SA is a South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) accredited professional body with a professional membership and therefore has to comply with the requirements as set out in the National Qualifications Framework Act (NQF Act 67 of 2008 – as amended). The ITC-SA is also a Recognised Voluntary Association in terms of the Engineering Profession Act, 2000 (Act 46 of 2000).
In 2014, the Institute for Timber Frame Builders (ITFB) was incorporated into the ITC-SA to ensure a better and more uniform representation of the timber engineered practitioners in the built environment.
