Mantis Hiddn in Addo Emerges Within South Africa’s Untouched Wilderness

Built within one of the region’s most remote and environmentally sensitive landscapes, the project combines ultra-luxury hospitality, ecological restoration and fully off-grid infrastructure within a wilderness setting once considered too difficult to develop

Mantis Hiddn in Addo – Terra Nova Create has announced the completion of Mantis Hiddn in Addo, a fully off-grid luxury eco-lodge located within South Africa’s Greater Addo region.

Positioned across steep mountain terrain with no pre-existing infrastructure, the project required a highly considered approach to access, sustainability and construction. Before development began, the site was explored on foot to identify lodge positions with the least environmental disturbance and strongest connection to the surrounding landscape.

The completed lodge comprises 14 luxury suites and villas carefully embedded into the terrain, alongside a central lodge featuring an infinity pool, restaurant, lounge and panoramic viewing deck overlooking the reserve below.

Beyond the guest experience, the project also forms part of a broader ecological rehabilitation initiative involving landscape restoration and the removal of approximately 40 kilometres of stock fencing to support future wildlife movement corridors linked to the greater Addo Elephant National Park ecosystem.

“This project challenged every part of the development process,” says Bruce McNicol, Co-Founder of Terra Nova Create. “But ultimately, those challenges became part of what makes Hiddn in Addo so unique.”

The project was delivered by Terra Nova Create in collaboration with Millennia Architects, Rennasance Construction, Synergy Property Solutions and a broader multidisciplinary consultant team.
