The Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts always bring immense energy to the heart of the Cape Floral Region — Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden. On 26 December 2022, high-powered performances by Neon Dreams, Majozi, and Will Linley will have concertgoers bouncing into the beautiful Cape Town evening.
The award-winning Canadian duo, Neon Dreams, will be headlining the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts stage. Members Frank Kadillac and Adrian Morris had their viral spike when they released their single, “Life Without Fantasies”, in 2020. They have since had all their singles land on the Top 40 charts across major radio stations in South Africa. More recently, the first single off their upcoming project, “Little Dance”, hit number one on various national stations, including the East Coast Radio Top 40, Algoa FM Top 30 and the Jacaranda FM SA Top 20. Part of their journey through South Africa has been to make Cape Town their home. Neon Dream’s new album, set for release in early 2023, was written and produced in the country. They have collaborated with some of SA’s most accomplished talents, including Majozi, Mthandazo Gatya and more. The band’s success continues with the release of their second single off their upcoming album, “It’s All Good”.
“This is our first time playing at Kirstenbosch, but everyone has told us about its beauty. Countless fans have told us that we have to play at Kirstenbosch, so if there’s one venue we have to play in Cape Town, it’s Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, and we’re honoured to take the stage there finally!” says Neon Dreams.
Majozi, from Durban, South Africa, wears his heart on his sleeve and will once again bring his fans the authentic and self-reflective indie pop jams they love at the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts. Since the artist’s musical journey took off in 2013, he has been playing at major South African festivals such as Rocking the Daisies, Oppi-Koppi and KDay. He has toured Amsterdam and has opened up for international acts like The Lumineers and Calum Scott. Majozi continues to build a loyal global fan base, and with his skill set that rises above singing, he’ll put on a phenomenal show for his fans when he picks up his guitar and gets behind the drum or piano.
“Cape Town’s natural beauty is unmatched. Few venues in the world are as beautiful as Kirstenbosch. Every time I’ve performed there, I’ve always been in awe of the space and the people”, explained Majozi.
Cape Town musician and songwriter Will Linley will open up the show and deliver his rhythmic and fun-loving music to the crowd. The up-and-coming musician took TikTok by storm with his music teases in 2020, where he found a global connection with fans through his honest lyricism and heartening positivity. Linley’s debut single, ‘miss me (when you’re gone)’, has reached number one on radio stations in South Africa and has achieved Platinum status. Fans can expect to hear all the songs from his latest EP, “kill all my feelings”, and experience an exclusive sneak peek of some unreleased material.
“I have never performed at Kirstenbosch before, and hopefully, this will be the first of many more to come! It’s been a dream of mine since I was a tiny kid, so to be able to stand on the stage that so many greats have stood on before is absolutely incredible”, said Will Linely.
