With winners due to be announced at an awards function set to take place in November 2024, the nominations phase of the annual Twyg Sustainable Fashion Awards is now open. Twyg is calling on both the public and members of the trade to put forward worthy contenders across a number of categories. Fashion designers are also encouraged to self-nominate in order to be considered for an award.
The awards are open to South Africans aged 18 and up and nominations close on 27 September 2024. This year there are 11 entry categories, including the Changemaker Award which is not open to nominations. The Changemaker Award will be awarded to the overall winner – drawn from all the categories and based on the judges’ scoring results – who will receive a substantial prize.
The awards programme and judging process are audited by advocate John Shija to ensure the principles of transparency, objectivity, fairness and equity are applied to the judges, the entrants, and the sponsors. The finalists will be announced on Tuesday, 8 November 2024 and the winners will be announced on Wednesday, 20 November 2024.

- Innovative Design and Materials Award
- Trans-seasonal Design Award
- Farm-to-Fashion Award
- Nicholas Coutts Artisanal Fashion Award
- Retail Award
- Tastemaker Award

The aim of the awards is to “Celebrate fashion that is ecologically, socially and culturally fit for the future. We need to support the leaders, designers and makers involved in ushering in the tomorrow our planet needs,’ says Twyg founder Jackie May.
Twyg is a South African NPC thathas been hosting its Sustainable Fashion Awards for the last six years, and was the first to launch awards of this nature in the country.
