SA SET TO BE THE FIRST IN ANSWERING NATURE’S CALL

Global Call to Action around nature and saving the planet launches in Cape Town

South Africa is set to be the stage for the global roll out this week of an international call to action, “Nature Is Calling”, with urban hotpots in Cape Town and Johannesburg being transformed with natural settings. “Nature is Calling” is intended as a wake-up call to humanity to protect the planet and reconnect with nature.

With humans in urban areas spending up to 95% of their time indoors, even before lockdown, the drive is a reminder that direct well-being results from spending time in nature. Recent scientific evidence has pointed to the fact that being immersed in nature has a profound impact on our brains and behaviour, helping us to reduce anxiety, brooding, and stress, and increases attention capacity, creativity, and our ability to connect with other people.

Along with the settings at Oliver Tambo and Cape Town International Airports, Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront will also have an ‘urban oasis’ in which onlookers & passers-by can spend time away from the urban jungle.

This will be the first in several “Nature Is Calling” urban oases to also be placed in other global hotspots, with an intention of encouraging people to question their very way of life: how nature is vital to our well-being and why we should be doing all we can to protect it.

This is all on the eve of the much-anticipated release of season two of Free Range Humans, an original series from Corona Studios that follows six environmental activists from across the globe, including South Africa’s “Kelp Keeper” Loyiso Dunga, who have answered nature’s call for help on their various missions.

Five of the six international eco-activists featured in Free Range Humans – Nature Is Calling, will all be traveling to Cape Town for the global premiere which takes place at the V&A Waterfront on Wednesday, May 25th, in a panel discussion to be moderated by Felipe Ambra, Global Vice President of Corona.
