Shimansky Diamonds is pleased to announce that they have won the award for the Most Compelling Tourism Story at WTM Africa. The award was presented on Sunday, 2 April 2023, at GOLD Restaurant.
The award was given in recognition of the Shimansky Diamond’s initiative, the Cape Town Ring, also known as the Ring That Binds Us. This initiative aims to bring worldwide awareness to the beauty of Cape Town and attract visitors to South Africa. It has grown into a movement that anyone passionate about the city can join and contribute to. We want people to say “I DO” to Cape Town.
The Most Compelling Tourism Story award category recognizes Africa’s unique regions and cities that have a story to tell. The award honours those who use an authentic and creative narrative to inspire tourists to explore an African destination. The Cape Town Ring captures the essence of Cape Town and becomes a visible brand ambassador worldwide with instant recognition that transforms into a passionate conversation and experience share.
“We are passionate about promoting Cape Town to the world and bringing the world to Cape Town,” said Shimansky Diamond CEO, Yair Shimansky.
WTM Africa is one of the most prestigious travel trade shows, with events taking place around the world. The African iteration of WTM is set to take place at the CTICC in Cape Town from 3 to 5 April and will connect high-profile delegates and buyers with one another.
Shimansky Diamonds has been a part of the Cape Town and South African tourism landscape for many years, notes Yair Shimansky, founder, and CEO of Shimansky Jewellers. “We are excited to be at this year’s event and meet some of the top tourism stakeholders in the world.”
Visitors to the Shimansky Diamonds stand at WTM Africa, located at stand G19, will be able to engage with the team and participate in the much-loved Diamond Experience, which is also on offer at the Shimansky showroom in the V&A Waterfront. The team will also be participating in a panel that will explore who the traveller to Africa is and whether we truly understand what they are looking for.
“This is an opportunity for those in the tourism industry to get a taste of what we offer visitors in our incredible city,” Shimansky adds. They will also be able to learn more about diamond mining in South Africa and see many of the products we have on offer, including the famous Cape Town Ring.”
This year’s WTM Africa event is expected to attract over 500 exhibitors from across the world, including representatives from Shimansky Diamonds. The event will also feature a fresh line up of panellists speaking in various forums and discussions that pertain to the tourism industry.
