As a heavy-industry operation in a low-margin, energy-intensive sector, the company requires steady power to run its key assets, such as manufacturing facilities, offices and all supporting infrastructure including a modern static crushing plant capable of producing up to 220 tons per hour.
The local grid power was unreliable and unable to meet its full production demands, so Northwest Crushers had to rely heavily on diesel generators for essential operations. This reliance led to several issues: power frequently cut out and disrupted production schedules, fuel prices continued to rise and ate into thin profit margins, and the unstable power from switching generators damaged sensitive electronic control systems.

To address these challenges, Northwest Crushers partnered with Eco Trades to deploy a fully off-the-grid renewable energy solution centred on SigenStack, a modular energy storage system from Sigenergy.
Designed for commercial applications, SigenStack delivers flexibility, reliability and scalability. Its modular design enables lower costs when expanding capacity in the future. The custom-built system combines a 1.3MW solar power plant with a 2.3MWh SigenStack and can easily scale up to 3.6MWh as the business grows without incurring high additional expenses.
From initial concept to final commissioning, Eco Trades and Sigenergy collaborated closely to tailor the solution to Northwest Crushers’ unique operational needs, production cycles and long-term growth plans, resulting in a system that powers the entire operation independently with no reliance on the national grid or diesel generators.
SigenStack is built specifically to handle the tough demands of heavy industry. One key strength is its ability to deliver stable, uninterrupted power through seamless switchover, ensuring 0ms load-side disruption operation. This is crucial for protecting the company’s valuable crushers, control systems and sensitive electronic equipment, issues that plagued the operation during its reliance on generators. Designed for continuous industrial use, SigenStack ensures the plant always operates at maximum capacity, free from the limits of unreliable external power sources.
Since the system became fully operational in November 2025, the transformation has been remarkable. Northwest Crushers has eliminated the use of fuel generators by 100%, so it is no longer exposed to fluctuating fuel prices and has lower maintenance requirements.
Energy costs are now predictable and easy to control, insulated from unexpected grid price hikes that used to disrupt budgeting and the company no longer experiences unplanned power outages. This stability has stabilised production output, made production planning more reliable across all business units and eliminated costly downtime; and all of this is thanks to SigenStack’s consistent and reliable performance.
Beyond day-to-day operational improvements, SigenStack delivers measurable long-term benefits. The system has significantly reduced Northwest Crushers’ environmental footprint, aligning its operations with sustainable business practices, and the investment in SigenStack has a projected payback period of six to eight years.
