Swinging into the New Year with Mi Casa and Swing City

The Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts are here to make this festive season extra cheery! The New Year’s Eve concert on 31 December 2022, in Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, promises to be a magnetic celebration as you one, two-step your way into 2023 with Mi Casa and Swing City.

The soulful dance trio Mi Casa will be headlining the New Year’s Eve concert. Since 2010 the group has dominated African and South African music charts with eight number-one singles, including the popular hits ‘Jika’ and ‘Don’t Wanna Be Your Friend’. The trio are no strangers to this stage and are geared up to bring another unforgettable show. The five-time South African Music Awards (SAMA) winners hold the titles of “Best Duo Group”, “Best Dance Group”, and the coveted “Record of the year”. Make sure to start 2023 on the right note with the deep soulful vocals, horns and keys of the legendary Mi Casa.

The opening act of the New Year’s Eve concert will be a performance by none other than Swing City. Established by three of South Africa’s most loved artists, Nathan Ro, Graeme Watkins, and Loyiso Bala, the group will share their love of swing music with concertgoers. Expect to sway along to their finest Swing and Jazz music selections as they perform some of your favourite tunes in a unique Swing City arrangement, style and humour. “The best thing about performing in Cape Town is the rich, deep culture and love of the jazz standards. Couple that with a Kirstenbosch backdrop, and you are in for a spectacular night out”, says Swing City.
