Everything we do in the modern world depends on energy, and we all expect continuous energy supplies. Whether the power comes from solar, coal, hydro, wind, or a combination, a well-working power grid comes down to the electrical distribution switchgear.
The Atlantis Special Economic Zone Company recently had the pleasure of visiting Modulêr Electrical Assemblies in Atlantis. This small, yet powerful SMME, is an electrical panel manufacturer assembling components together for all industrialists. The company is a new investor who has taken up space within the factory of an existing Atlantis investor within the SEZ space. With the creation of 10 jobs over the next 10 years and a potential investment of around R50 000 000 over the next 5 years, the company has placed itself in an exciting position to greatly contribute towards economic growth.
The company manufactures using imported parts from the Danish company, Logstrup Modular Systems. The Logstrup Modular System is fully customizable across brands. Their solutions are among the most rigid low voltage solutions on the market. Whilst visiting the offices of Modulêr in Atlantis, the Danish representative, Mr Morten Rosenkilde from Logstrup was also in attendance.
Alderman James Vos, the Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth, said: “The addition of a small business such as Modulêr Electrical Assemblies to the Atlantis SEZ space is wonderful news and signifies the power of the City’s efforts in helping local SMMEs to take a seat at the greentech table. The City’s Enterprise and Supplier Development Department has, for example, hosted workshops in Atlantis with 119 local businesses in attendance. By helping entrepreneurs to gain technical and business knowledge, we are growing the local economy and creating job opportunities for Capetonians.”
Acting CEO for the Atlantis SEZ, Matt Cullinan, was shown around the Modulêr manufacturing space whilst learning the history and future goals of the company. “What is exciting to see is Modulêr’s commitment to employing and training people from Atlantis. The location of Modulêr in the Atlantis SEZ is also a sign of the growing confidence in the zone and appreciation of the benefits of locating in Atlantis” Cullinan said
