“If we don’t get energy right, we are not going to recover quickly from Covid-19 and we are not going to recover enough from the recent downgrades.”
Mineral Resources and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe
Despite the impact of Covid-19 on industries across the globe, the drive towards renewable energy in South Africa remains a high priority for government. This is evident from the Minister’s address during a virtual event that included key stakeholders across the sector. The Windaba team supports the call to accelerate the implementation of the Integrated Resource Plan 2019 (IRP 2019). As you know, 2020 has not gone according to plan for most of us, we have taken a decision to go virtual for Windaba 2020, in light of Covid 19 restrictions. We are committed to supporting the government’s approach in energy transition to embrace a diversified energy mix. As such, we are excited to introduce the Windaba 2020 Virtual Marketplace. The virtual event will take place on 26 to 27 October 2020. The virtual marketplace will feature a full online conference programme, virtual exhibition, and an online B2B platform that will enable one on one meetings for all in the renewable energy sector to interact. The platform will also enable access key content about the latest industry developments and track latest bids and opportunities in the marketplace. The dedicated platform will be available for up to 12 months and allows exhibitors to place products in a virtual show room that will be frequented by targeted buyers. Companies will be listed according to category, making it easy for buyers to connect and request a meeting to further engage with your business. Registrations for visitors and delegates to access the platform will open soon. |
